Frequently Asked Questions

 

What do I need to bring to class?
A yoga mat, water, and two towels
(one for your mat if you’re taking a heated class and a second one if you want to shower after).
All of these things are available for rent or purchase in our retail area.  

 What do I wear to class?
Wear comfortable clothing that you can move and sweat in.
We recommend leggings and a tank top or sports bra for ladies and shorts for men.
There are no shoes or socks required.

Do I need to pre-register for classes?
It is highly recommended but drop-ins are still welcome.
It's very rare that we can't accommodate everyone but it can happen.

 I'm new to yoga, what class do I take?
There are many different styles of yoga, which class to take depends on what you’re looking to get out of yoga.
Read the class descriptions carefully and give us a call if you have any questions.
Even though most of our classes are open level, if you’re brand new to yoga taking Club Intro class is highly recommended.
This will help affiliate you with the names of the postures, but just like many things, you learn as you go.

What if I'm not flexible?
Join the Club! So were we when we took our first class. Don’t worry about it.
Flexibility is something yoga gives you; you don’t have to be flexible to start practicing yoga.
In these yoga classes, we will cycle through a variety of different motions allowing your muscles to lengthen and stretch.

 How hot are the classes?
Don’t worry it's not too hot. This is a fun, sweaty practice. We heat our rooms from 32 to 36 Degrees.
Our aim is to keep the room at a temperature that promotes sweating as a great way of detoxing through the skin,
to warm the body to keep the body supple, increasing joint mobility and flexibility.
Drink plenty of water before and after your practice so you stay hydrated.

How early should I arrive for class?
For new students and returning students who need to purchase classes,
you should plan to arrive at least 15 minutes early.
Otherwise, ten minutes prior to class should suffice.

I'm running late. Can I still come to class?
Out of respect for everyone’s time and personal schedules, we start classes right on time and do not allow latecomers.
We are firm about this policy because many classes begin with an introduction, silent centering or meditation and to allow latecomers would be distracting and disruptive to both teacher and students.
Please arrive at least 10 minutes early to ensure that you can attend class.

 What forms of payment do you accept?
We currently accept all major credit cards and cash.

Do you have showers?
Yes, we have two showers in the men’s and three in the women’s rooms. 
We offer shower towel rental, 2$. We also offer free hair ties, Q-tip, hair dryer, hand and body soap.
Come sweat and leave refreshed!

Is it ok to eat or drink before I practice yoga?
We don’t recommend eating too much prior to a yoga class.
With all the twists, bends and folds you will be doing, having a full stomach can make for an undesirable practice.
If you’re hungry a light snack or small meal 90 minutes to 2 hours before class is okay. 
Please consume ample amounts of water before and after your yoga practice.
Yoga Club is happy to provide free filtered water.

What are adjustments? 
In addition to breath, optimal alignment is key in yoga. Our teachers walk around the room while teaching and offer verbal suggestions and/or physical adjustments to help students feel the pose in a deeper way and learn more about safe anatomical alignment. Hands on assists usually feel supportive to most but not everyone likes them. If you don’t want to be touched, just let your teacher know and they will respect your space.
